I work and live in Cape Town, South Africa.
A long and satisfying career in graphic design has made way for a more fulfilling path into painting and ceramics. I paint in the abstract and make contemporary ceramics.
My ceramic process is a simple one. Hand building with a variety of clay bodies, rarely glazing my work, as I find charm and honesty in the rawness of the clay. Mostly, my ceramics are non-functional objects that provide comfort and delight.
Whenever I make a ceramic object I am reminded always, that an ordinary material (clay/porcelain) and a simple process (firing) can create an extraordinary effect, feeling or shape. And there in lies the joy of what I do.
Career highlights have been exhibiting at 1000VASES, Milano Design Week, Italy in September 2021, with a published catalogue, a two month residency (April/May 2024) at FACC in Faenza, Italy, and a solo exhibition at the Paperoowl Gallery in Venice (June 2024).
I laugh often, cry when I’m happy and talk too much.
